Dear Leona Group Students and Families,
Today, Governor Ducey announced that school campuses will remain closed through the end of this school year, as well as issuing a stay at home order. We want you to have clear information about what this order means, alleviating any concerns you may have as to how this impacts you, our schools, and your continuing access to education.
Here is language directly from the Governor’s announcement today: “On March 27, Governor Ducey signed legislation to support schools during closures, ensure school letter grades are held harmless, suspend statewide testing requirements, ensure school days are not extended into the summer, require learning opportunities for students to continue, and ensure teachers and staff see no disruption in pay as a result of COVID-19.”
The order issued today continues this policy. As a result:
The Governor’s stay at home order encourages all Arizonans to “stay home, stay healthy and stay connected.” We echo this sentiment, encouraging our students and families to take every possible precaution in remaining healthy.
Governor Ducey’s order also specifically states that essential services such as grocery stores, pharmacies and schools will continue to operate. This means our campuses will continue to offer distance learning for all students.
We understand these are uncertain times. Please know that we are committed to our students and families. Of that, you can be certain.
Together, we will keep putting students first, doing everything we can to meet their needs academically, physically and emotionally. And, together, we will get through this, stronger than ever.
Sincerely,
William Coats, Ph.D.

- All Leona schools will continue providing distance learning to our students. Your campus will communicate directly with you as to specific schedules, how to access technology, and other details.
- All Leona campuses will continue providing breakfast and lunch to any child under 18 and/or connections to local community resources. Please check with your school for specific details.
- We understand that this announcement impacts promotions, graduation ceremonies, proms and other end-of-year celebrations. Rest assured that we are working on plans to hold virtual celebrations and also in-person gatherings at a later date when it is safe to do so.
- Our collective efforts will remain focused on ensuring every student is supported to the best of our ability during this unprecedented event.

Dear Sun Valley HS Families,
In accordance with orders from Arizona’s Governor Doug Ducey, our campus will be closed to students March 16-27 in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
We care deeply about how this decision impacts our students and families. We have prepared contingency plans to meet the needs of our students, providing meals each day for those who rely on our campuses for breakfast and lunch. And, should the situation change, resulting in a need for closure beyond March 27, we are working on plans to deliver instruction remotely, so that your child continues to receive academic instruction and support.
Together, we will face the challenges this pandemic brings with grit and perseverance. And, together, we will emerge stronger than ever.
In the meantime, please know we are here to support you and your child. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you have. My email is: Telleny.Gilliam@LeonaGroup.com. You can reach me by phone at 480-497-4800.
