Special Education
Sun Valley High School strongly values the education of ALL students. Our teachers are trained to teach to diverse learning styles and ability levels. Sun Valley High School practices the individualized instruction model of special education, resulting in a successful collaboration between staff, general education teachers, special education coordinators and parents. This model provides the best possible learning environment for our exceptional students.
We are proud of the success of our special education students and continue to strive to provide complete access to the general education curriculum with adequate and customized supports for our students. We believe the close collaboration between school staff and parents, as well as our small class sizes and modified block scheduling, assist us in providing a truly individualized and supported education plan for all of our exceptional students.
Teachers and special education staff work closely together in order to ensure the success of each student. General education teachers track exceptional student progress using accommodation/modification logs and progress reports provided by the special education department, guaranteeing continuous attention to students’ goals and needs throughout the school day and school year. This also ensures the availability of feedback for parents and students.
