ELL Program

The Sun Valley High School Welcome Center is designed to better support our English Language Learner (ELL) parents and students. Our goal is to make the school experience as accessible, friendly and encouraging as possible. Staffed by a bilingual support team, the following are just some of the many services our Welcome Center provides:

          • Assistance filling out enrollment paperwork
          • Arizona’s English Language Proficiency (AZELLA) testing for new students
          • Legal and social support for families such as immigration attorneys, immunization and health clinics
          • Educational resources for students such as translators, dictionaries, language CDs and Walkmen
          • Explanations of campus policies, procedures and programs as well as cultural norms of the American school environment
          • Campus tours
          • Assistance with scheduling
          • Tutoring and translating in mainstream classrooms
          • College and career advisement
